In 2009-10 we met monthly at St. Mark's Episcopal Church in St. Louis city, and heard from folks that it would be nice to meet in the county. In 2010-2011 we met monthly at Emmanuel Church in Webster Groves, but many fewer were actually able to make the meetings. A few thought we might try a virtual meeting online and we've attempted twice a month on Mondays. But, it never quite took off and now Mondays won't work for our active folks. So, if you want to start something back up, just send us an …

In the Old World, these Churches offer formal musical training in Byzantine Chant -- in their own languages, of course (Greek or Arabic). In many American parishes, those who know the Byzantine Chant melodies of the hymns can only sing the hymns in their Old World languages. Formal instruction in Byzantine Chant -- in English -- is available in only a few American cities. St. Louis is not o …

My mom (a card loving senior) really enjoys playing pinochle. She plays at her church three times a month, but would like to play more and find folks interested in playing. Ideally she would like to find a group of 10-12 and set up weekly playing dates. If she gets this many in a group, then there is always enough players. More details will be added such as location and etc., once things get rolling. Retired seniors who love to play pinochle and other card games should join her group!
